About Us

Karly Doyle is a forensic clinician and Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AASW Registration No. 469852) with two decades of experience working at the intersection of substance use, mental health and the justice system.

 

Since 2006, Karly has worked extensively with individuals involved in legal proceedings, providing comprehensive assessments, counselling, treatment and rehabilitation-focused interventions in both community and custodial settings.

 

Ontrack Counselling & Consulting specialises in forensic Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) assessments, court reports and therapeutic support for clients with current or pending legal matters.

 

Throughout her career, Karly has conducted complex clinical assessments and provided expert consultation to members of the judiciary, Corrections Victoria and the Adult Parole Board. Her reports and recommendations have informed decision-making in matters relating to bail applications, sentencing, rehabilitation, treatment planning and risk management.

 

Prior to establishing Ontrack Counselling & Consulting, Karly worked as a Clinical Advisor with the Melbourne Drug Court, supporting clients and multidisciplinary teams in the management and treatment of individuals with significant AOD and mental health issues.

 

Ontrack accepts referrals from legal representatives, Corrections Victoria, general practitioners and self-referring clients.

 

Karly is a registered Medicare provider.

For Lawyers & Referrers

Ontrack Counselling & Consulting provides specialist forensic AOD assessments, court reports and rehabilitation-focused treatment for individuals involved in legal proceedings.

Assessments and reports are available for matters including bail applications, plea hearings, sentencing proceedings and Corrections-related matters. Services are available to clients in both community and custodial settings, including those seeking to engage in treatment and demonstrate steps towards rehabilitation in the lead up to court proceedings.

Bail Assessments and Reports

For clients with upcoming bail applications, Ontrack can provide prompt clinical assessments and comprehensive reports addressing:

  • Substance use history and current presentation

  • Treatment needs and recommendations

  • Motivation and readiness to engage in treatment

  • Risk and protective factors

  • Proposed treatment, support and post-release arrangements

  • Rehabilitation planning and treatment goals

 

Where appropriate, reports may include recommendations for ongoing treatment with Ontrack, immediate post-release counselling support and strategies to promote community stability and reduce the risk of reoffending.

Ongoing counselling can commence immediately upon release, with progress reports available where required to document treatment engagement and rehabilitation progress.

​

When ordered by the Court, Ontrack can also assist clients to organise urine drug screens, through their General Practitioner. 

 

Where required, remote attendance at bail applications may be available to provide evidence regarding assessment findings and treatment recommendations. 

Treatment and Progress Reports (community and custody-based)

Reports are prepared independently and objectively and may assist the Court in understanding a client's engagement in treatment, their commitment to rehabilitation efforts and progress towards behavioural change.

 

For clients engaged in counselling support and treatment, Ontrack can provide treatment and progress reports outlining:

  • Attendance and participation in treatment

  • Engagement and responsiveness to interventions

  • Treatment goals and progress

  • Insight into substance use and offending-related behaviours

  • Development of relapse prevention strategies

  • Strengthening of protective factors and coping skills

  • Rehabilitation efforts and ongoing treatment needs

Counselling & Support

Ontrack provides evidence-based counselling for individuals experiencing AOD concerns, including those with co-occurring mental health issues. Counselling supports individuals to improve mental health and wellbeing, develop relapse prevention strategies and strengthen protective factors associated with long-term recovery and community stability.

Counselling draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing and psychoeducation. Treatment focuses on substance use, emotional regulation, behavioural change and relapse prevention, including the identification and management of high-risk situations, triggers and cravings, the development of adaptive coping strategies, communication skills and goal-directed behaviour change.

All consultations are conducted remotely via telephone or videoconference, enabling access for clients in the community and in custody. Medicare rebates are available for eligible community-based clients.

​

Referrals are accepted from legal representatives, Corrections staff and self-referring clients.

Fees & Medicare

Ontrack Counselling & Consulting is a registered Medicare provider. Clients with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) referred by their GP may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for counselling sessions. To access a rebate, speak with your GP about a referral under a Mental Health Care Plan prior to your first appointment.
